She‘s 10 years old (Younger then Toph and Aang), She’s the loved youngest daughter of the village chief (He succeeded the title from his late father when she’s 5, joins the White Lotus in the series finale and is based of Chief Powahatan from the 1995 Disney movie and Fa Zhou from the 1998 movie), has a loving older sister (Similar to Yune’s sister Shione), 10 cousins from her 4 uncles and a loving grandmother. She’s shy, clumsy, almost masters airbending but is curious about the lands she’d never visited before and invented flight.
She comes from a hidden airbending village founded by a group of Air Nomad survivors (Including the Flying Bison and Momo’s species) of Sozin’s Genoicide 100 years ago (When Aang’s still frozen). The village was modeled after the Japanese Yaoyi Era architecture and her people were modeled after the Jomon, Emishi, Sanka people, Indigenous Taiwanese and Native Americans.
She ran away to find the avatar to restore her people’s culture and save her father’s life (It’s to prevent him from leaving to die while searching for Aang) after she heard a secret about their past and the sense that the avatar returned from the elders and her father, and met Zuko and his cousin (Who’s a Love interest of Ty Lee like Mai and Zuko) and then bonded like brothers and sister. She had a talent for playing her treasured flute, has 2 animal friends like a Hippogriff and another flying lemur (I might be cool to see the dream versions of them as ninjas), has secret crush on Aang since she first saw him, (They kissed during the Cave of Lovers, Aang’s imagination on an island, Amber Island Theatre and at Ba Sing Se Dragon Tea Shop in the end), and hopes that he’ll restore the Air Nomads.
P.S. I was thinking about doing a cosplay with her as Yune, Zuko as Claude Claudel and Iroh as Oscar Claudel from Croisée in a Forein Labyrinth.
